You could be forgiven for thinking that the world was going to end today, if you lived in Brisbane that is.  When Storm peeled back the curtains this morning light flooded the room; light indeed, but not the typical white harsh light of sunshine or the greyed hues of overcastration ;) .   Rather a distinct yellowish hue filled the room – one reminiscent of the colour one sees on the computer screen after having fiddled with the colour and contrast settings for a little too long.

Scooting to work, I was unsure whether the foreboding yellowness of the sky was signalling imminent rain and thunder or the end of mankind and the rising of the Apocalyptic Horsemen.  The situation has changed with the passing hours, with an intensification of the yellow-orange tinge to the sky (as if I had donned a $5 pair of yellow petrol-station sunglasses with every peep out of the window).  The only question is what next?

The consensus in the office is that bushfires to the north have sent smoke and dust into the brisbane sky for all sorts of light altering fun and weirdness.  And although it is one of the stranger occurrences I have experienced in the last 6 years of Brisbane living, there has been no reflection of the fact in news sources (an indication of the colour of the sky can be seen in these photos of last night’s equally interesting thunder storm).

So here’s to getting through today and not having to face triffids on the scoot home…
