So I was sitting in the doctor’s surgery today and some cable tv was hum-drumming along in the background. After a few moments, I realised that it was a FOX interview from the States with an Israeli ambassador and unknown interviewer. Now, didn’t they give an even-handed description of the current Israeli-Lebanon situation…

The interviewer stated (and I am paraphrasing) – it seems to me that a lot of the anti-israeli protests we are currently seeing in Europe stem from an underlying anti-semitism, about which I’ve commented before. The resurgence in anti-semitism is evident in France, Germany and Italy amongst other places…

And after some similar back and forward insights, the Israeli Ambassador to the UN concluded by saying that Lebanon is developing an overt anti-semitic form of fascism, which he can see spreading to European countries…

Wow…Am I anti-semitic? I don’t agree with Israel’s current policy of invading another sovereign nation…I don’t agree with the notion of civilians on both sides paying a price for geo-political manouevring…but I’ve dated a lovely jewish girl…My brother is married to a lovely jewish girl…I said “mazel tov” at their wedding!!

Needless to say, I am perplexed about the whole situation…
