Last night, 4 police cars and a Channel 10 news vehicle were parked outside the Royal Exchange hotel in Toowong. Something big had obviously happened. I don’t think any of us suspected, however, that it was due to the death of a patron. This morning, the radio stated that the 25 yr old (!) male died as a result of a fractured skull. The Courier Mail said this on the matter (also ABC NEWS). You tell me if there are ‘lines to read between’. A number of people have attested to the nigh-on brutality of the Bouncers when dealing with patrons at the RE. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what emerges through the grapevine on this one.
Either way, it’s pretty disgusting news and signifies the end of my patronage of the RE for an indefinite period of time (the beer gives me headaches anyways)
[Update] Well it turns out two bouncers have been charged with murder after it was revealed that witnesses saw the man being restrained in a head-lock (i.e. strangled)…
