Google Maps

My friend Gally has just noted that

“Google Maps in Australia has finally been updated to where it is in the states, with driving directions and local search”.

It’s also worthy of note that Goggle Maps now (since when I’m unsure) reads .kml files made in Google Earth and elsewhere as long as the .kml file is hosted on the web. That’s pretty nifty in my opinion…

Whilst recently using a couple of competing Real Estate websites to browse and gander at property prices and ovepriced weathertex housing, I noticed a further advantage of Google maps over the likes of whereis.com. Google maps has cadastral overlays of all of Australia (At least it had them for outback of Tiaro and Burnett Heads). That’s a pretty handy little feature when you’re having a look at all things real estate related. The only thing that would make it even better would be some sort of measurement device (or ‘info’ pointer) which could tell you the size of a given block…

Maybe mum and dad can finally determine whether their house is one foot too close to the boundary… So with integrated directions and local search why not use google over whereis.com?
