With the cricket season well and truly here…(thank goodness the ABC radio streaming hasn’t been blocked at work), I thought I’d place this link to an interesting stat. This one is “carrying you bat” or, in general terms, batting through the whole innings without getting out. The majority of instances whereby someone has carried their bat have been in low scoring innings. Of note is Mark Taylor’s 169* in Adelaide which took 8 1/2 hours and definitely helped Australia escape the jaws of defeat. Hardly surprising that Bill Lawry, arguably the world’s most boring (yet sturdy) batsman, appears on the list twice.
Also, noticeable is Bill Brown’s 206*, his only n.o. in 35 innings…
Other cool stats include 99′s, slowest batting (including 101mins for 0 runs), or batsmen out first ball of a test..

Did you notice a valiant DC Boon on that list?
